Glyphosate: Pesticides, Celiac and Gluten

Bug killer is all over your food at the grocery store. Let's fix that.

Here's the scoop.

Companies like Bayer (formerly Monsanto) have been spraying most of the American crops with unheard of amounts of Pesticides each year. The problem is that these are absolutely still in the product when they hit the store shelves and it's causing a lot of problems for Americans. Europe has banned the use of these chemicals in their food, so why are they yet again picking on the diet of Americans with out clearly telling us about it? The FDA is not to be trusted y'all. The specific  bug killer that is causing the problem is called glyphosate.

Learn About Glyphosate
Bayer Has Been Sued But...

Bayer has been sued off the walls for this, but you can't easily stop big corporations by taking their money, because most are owned by Blackrock and Vanguard who have practically limitless money.

But they're passing legislation so they we can't sue them for this. Legal loopholes I tell yeah.

This is just the same problem rehashed. Theres truly nothing new under the sun, except last time it was using DDT which they said was safe and then ended up causing problems people deal with to this day.

Quite a few people with polio blame DDT for attributing to their polio. Or even causing it. Emily has been talking to patients at work who remember being excited about the DDT truck coming by and now look back on it amazed and disgusted by the whole thing. Wow.

Are Pesticides the cause of Celiacs?

It may not just be pesticides, but it's clearly related to it. I think we have all heard of people who cannot eat gluten bread in America, but when they go to Europe they're thrilled that they can eat as much bread as they want whether it's gluten free or not. Often times they come back have lost weight too! This shows us that it's not the always the gluten thats the problem. Europe has banned the use of pesticides on their grains, so don't tell me that the farmers need them.

I just read the other day that 100 million pounds of pesticides are sprayed on American crops each year. (So it's a massive money maker.) Only 1 % of it actually kills any bugs. Wow.

Well I know a handful of people that fit this celiac-type. Emily and I have both thought glyphosate could be the real issue here, but just the other day I met someone who really makes me learn more that direction. At a church party we met some folks who have been eating gluten free and are not technically celiac but have very high intolerance to gluten. So they haven eaten gluten free for a number of years.

They found a European market that sells European flour in Rogers, Arkansas and guess what?

They baked with it and ate it just fine! Fascinating!

The market that sells it is called European Gourmet of NWA and it's in Rogers, across from the Center for Nonprofits on Walnut. More on that in just a second!

More recently he stepped out on a ledge and purchased Italian flour at Walmart and because it really was from Italy, again he was able to eat it! That just blows my mind.

So are pesticides the cause? I'm not positive but the lack of them sure does fix the problem for some people! I'm not sure we should even call celiac a disease, it's really just a responsive body protecting itself from literal poison.

The bigger problem is that some people's bodies don't go haywire when they eat this garbage.

Just a thought to chew on as you dive into and experiment more with this research.

European Bakeries in NWA

This may not be exhaustive, but so far I've found that people with celiacs are able to eat at these bakeries. Of course be careful when trying and don't eat to much at once. Take it gradually at first.

How Much American Food Has Glyphosate?

Think about the biggest super market near you. Now imagine how much food there is in that store. Roughly 80-90% of edible products in that store have glyphosate. Even Beer and Wine has Glyphosate. I imagine this contributes a lot to why some people are "lightweights" and some aren't. How much bug killer can your body take? Haha! Gross.

Organic: How To Avoid Glyphosate

The best way to know you're not buying food with glyphosate is to only buy Organic labeled foods. Aldi makes this way more affordable than you'd think and they have 90% of what our family needs. Akins can cover the rest and more, no problem, they can be a bit pricier.

How Buying Organic Helped Us

I can attest that we only buy organic food the past few years and have seen issues we used to have fall away. For example, I used to get canker soars about every month or two and I know now it was after eating out. We had been eating an organic diet at home for a year and I noticed them going away until I'd go downtown and eat at food trucks during First Friday. The next day I had a canker soar. Come to find out my favorite trucks did not use organic ingredients. I've stopped eating at food trucks for two years and don't have any for the first time in my life. (Praise Yah.) Now we only eat at places like Pleasant Counter, Meld and Yeyos and I have had no issues.

For you it may not be canker soars, but you'll see issues that you've just gotten used to dealing with drop like flies when you eat a healthier diet. Glyphosate is a big part of that.

The Bobby Approved App

Get the Bobby Approved app on your phone to see what foods are safe, what are not and why. He covers tons of brands at most every supermarket in the states. Aldi definitely has the most good options though. It's way easier to just go there, so that you don't have to sort through the massive amount of toxic brands. They do a good job of carrying the basics, so going there we find that we get the core of what we need without spending extra on snacks that are cool but not the core foods. We found we save twice as much money shopping there over anywhere else. That's just our two cents.

What Foods Are high In Glyphosate?

Cheerios! This is the first thing we stopped giving our kiddos. Never ever give children Cheerios. Replace them with any Natures Path Cereal. Available locally at Akins, Azure, Cooks and Allen's.

White and Wheat Grains are bad unless they say they're organic and non GMO, but in America they're mostly made with the same "hard red wheat" which has been so tampered with over the years that it's not as pure as other grains. The "organic" label can still allow certain types of modifications, but it's still the best option if thats all you can get at the time.

Ancient Grains Are The Best We've Found!

These grains have been so highly processed over the last decade that they're very high in glyphosate, but you can use other grains! Ancient grains like Kamut tastes 99% identical and in recipes it replaces flour 1 for 1, so it's not hard to do your favorite recipes with Kamut and it's doesn't even change the taste from what we can tell!

Eincorn is another good one. Spelt is one people use a lot, but we don't know much about it.

Our favorite is the Kamut and we have a whole wheat and an all purpose version of it. The All Purpose is where they sift the wheat off it. So that's not as nutritious, but can be fluffier, which is why we use both. You can buy Whole Wheat kamut in bulk like us at Azure Standard and the All Purpose from Food Dudes. Azure also has other Kamut products too, like spaghetti noodles, macaroni, flatbread, a kamut supplement, a sprouted bread loaf and cereals puffs. Even a bulk bag of poultry Kamut that out chickens love

In Summary

Well I hope that helps y'all. Glyphosate is a total butt to your health and I'm certain it's a detrimental factor in why people keep getting sick through out the year. Your body can only fight so much, for so long, until it freaks out and needs a sick break. The good news is you can avoid it by eating organic and cooking with Kamut. Theres even a wonderful European Bakery in Rogers.

Despite the disgusting, profit-driven, poisonous country we live in, the Most High has taken good care of us in Northwest Arkansas by yet again, giving us all we need. We just have to choose it. I hope this helps you see through some of the blinders and start thinking about how these are affecting your own life.
